2022, Bezalel University of Arts and Design, Jerusalem

In collaboration with Edward Balaba of Uganda’s Makerere University in Kampala, the project explores the possibilities of conveying craft – tactile – non-verbal experiences through virtual space. Through Zoom we visited many local traditional ceramic workshops and the knowledge gathered was applied to the process of banished and smoked ceramics.

Observing raw clay work in rural Uganda through a projector in a country thousands of miles away and skilled artisanal processes without the ability to imitate them immediately was a work of blurring and distortion. A kind of satellites of tradition were created.
