2021, Bachelor thesis in collaboration with Veronika Zalesaková, Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Arts and Design
in Pilsen, with support of Dubí a.s. porcelain manufactury

The thesis in collab with Veronika Zálešáková is focused on the tradition of porcelain manufactories
in Bohemia. Besides a research of them, it rethought the existence of the dinner set and how it can suit
the present-day customer. The design is inspired by the rich history of porcelain shapes, using current language. It is composed of 6 editions that can be freely combined. The project aims to broaden the discussion about porcelain manufactories in the Czech Republic.

A website was created as an outcome of a complex research of Horní Slavkov manufactory. The illustrations are made by Jana Jarosova and web development by Stepan Sevcik.

„Koprivald is a porcelain manufactory living in an idea. It rises from the dust that lies in the corners
of the closed porcelain factory in Slavkov. Its former uniqueness, the longest history in the Czech Republic,
the enormous know-how and manual dexterity of its workers, was known under the names Haas & Czjzek and Schlaggenwald.
We want to become a platform for discussion about porcelain production in Bohemia and to add comments
on vanishing pride, which has been washed away with the communism and finally erased by the coupon privatisation.

We stand here with question marks and curious banter, initiated by insight into the workflow of
the Schlaggenwald manufactory pulled by the dedication and passion of its employees. What has manufactory production given and taken away? How has it influenced the current status of porcelain?
What kind of products would we like to have from it today and how should we treat the historical legacy
of the shapes? Is it a noble material or is it overused?

A very traditional  steel engraving  blue prints with new designs of Mikuláš Kalný. The stencils are created with etching technique. Accomplished in collaboration with Dubí, a.s. porcelain manufactory which holds
the unique recipe for the cobalt-blue printing colour and all the decorating process.
